'Seafood Bandit' Repeatedly Steals From Phoenixville Acme: Cops

On multiple occasions, the man stole crab legs, lobster, and other various fish, according to police.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — A Phoenixville man has been arrested after numerous thefts of seafood from the Acme in town, according to police.

Richard Hughes, 39, hit the store on Starr Street two days in a row, on both Feb. 22 and Feb. 23, police said.

During the first incident, Hughes made off with $246 in crab legs, lobster, and various fish. The next day, he returned and stole another $146 in similar seafood items, authorities said.

Acme's assistant manager showed police a surveillance tape, from which they were able to identify Hughes.

Hughes was found shortly thereafter at Burger King, where he was arrested. He failed to post $2,500 bail, and was taken to Chester County Prison.
