Steel City Coffeehouse Is Considering A Collegeville Location

Phoenixville's popular coffeehouse (and now brewery) has proposed a brewpub, cafe, and live music spot in Collegeville.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Steel City, Phoenixville's popular coffeehouse, brewery, and live music venue, has proposed a second location in Collegeville.

The new brewery, coffeehouse, and restaurant would be located in the former Ursinus College Commonwealth building on 500 E. Main Street, according to an announcement from the Collegeville Economic Development Corporation on Monday.

“We are looking to expand into a larger space and we believe Collegeville has a ton of potential," co-owner Laura Vernola told the CEDC. "We want to be a part of the rebirth of Collegeville."

Steel City recently added a brewery to their Bridge Street home in Phoenixville,an offering which they would expand to Collegeville.

According to officials, the Collegeville spot would also feature an outdoor garden that would have music during the day. There would also be a second floor listening room venue which would aim to host performances along the lines of World Cafe Live at Penn.

A formal proposal was made at a recent Collegeville borough council meeting and will be discussed in further detail in the coming months.
