Town Tours Unveil Phoenixville Area's 'Iron and Steel' Heritage

Chester County is hosting a series of "Town Tours and Village Walks" throughout the county to educate the public on the region's rich iron and steel heritage.

The most recent tour took place in Phoenixville at the Schuylkill River Heritage Center, bringing dozens to tour the site of the original French Creek Nail Works, the first nail factory in the United States.

Upcoming tours will feature historic sites throughout Chester County, including:

• July 7, Coatesville
• July 14, Historic Yellow Springs
• July 21, Historic Sugartown
• July 28, Hibernia Mansion
• August 18, East Pikeland
