Travel Restrictions On 422 Likely To Bring Congestion To Valley Forge
Nighttime travel restrictions on U.S. 422 are likely to continue to bring congestion into the area.

VALLEY FORGE, PA -- Nighttime travel restrictions have been scheduled on U.S. 422 in the Valley Forge area, PennDOT announced Friday.
It's the next step in the $97.4 million project which will widen bridges and improve travel on 422.
The restrictions will begin on May 31 and extend through June 2.

Key improvements will be made on bridges over the Schuylkill River, Norfolk Southern Railroad, South Trooper Road and Schuylkill River Trail in West Norriton, Upper Merion and Lower Providence townships, PennDOT said.
The project includes improving U.S. 422 between the Valley Forge Road and Trooper Road interchanges; upgrading Valley Forge Road at its interchange with U.S. 422; and improving ramps at the Trooper Road, Valley Forge Road, and First Avenue interchanges, according to officials.

Construction started in February 2016 and is scheduled to finish in May 2020.
U.S. 422 will be reduced from two lanes to one in both directions between First Avenue and Route 363 (Trooper Road) on Tuesday, May 31, through Thursday, June 2, for shoulder reconstruction, shoulder paving, and drainage installation. The lane closure on U.S. 422 east will be in place each night from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning. The westbound lane closure will occur from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning.
Lane restrictions also are planned on northbound North Gulph Road at the intersection with Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) in Upper Merion Township on Tuesday, May 31, to Friday, June 3 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for unground conduit installation.
The contractor’s work schedules are dependent on the weather.
