Two Phoenixville Businesses To Close Their Doors

A barbershop and one of the town's oldest five and dimes are closing their doors.

One of Phoenixville’s most distinctive barbershops has gone out of business.

Valor Men’s Grooming Lounge, which styled itself as a place for a haircut, a beer, and a place to hang out, officially closed its doors on Thursday, October 29.

Owners posted an announcement to their Facebook page and expressed their thanks to their customers over the years:

It still hasn’t quite kicked in that I would no longer be going to valor. What an adventure it has been! Thank you everybody for hanging with us. Thank you Dave for the invitation to be at valor. We collectively feel sad.

Valor said that despite extensive searching, they had “exhausted options to relocate” and couldn’t afford their present quarters.

They were located in a historic building on 27 South Main Street. They offered haircuts for men for $30, and also offered shape-ups, beard trims, shaves, and other services.

They have been in operation since 2011.

The borough’s oldest five and dime shop is also closing its doors.

Heidi Sue’s Variety Store, one of the town’s older buildings a remnant of a past era, has long been a place for residents to buy a wide cross-section of knick-knacks.

The owner of the shop, Ken Zimmermann, will be retiring.

The building has been sold. It has not yet been announced what will replace Heidi Sue’s.
