University of Valley Forge Students Clean Up Phoenixville
Students hit the streets and parks of Phoenixville for a community service project.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA -- University of Valley Forge students hit the streets and parks of Phoenixville on Wednesday as part of their Community Service Day Project for 2016.
Students mulched local playgrounds, replenished wood chips, and providing revitalized open spaces for students.
"Community service day is a day we all mobilize and go into the community and make it better," said Kevin Beery, Director of Academic Affairs with the University of Valley Forge.

Some areas they improved included Reservoir Park, local playgrounds, elementary schools, public basketball courts, and the downtown area.
Students also picked up natural debris from public spaces, raking leaves and collecting downed tree branches and sticks.

"(This day) teaches that people love the community and that people serve," said student Jac Nichols.
