Valley Forge Bridge Demolition To Cause 422 Lane Closures, Traffic Stoppages

Motorists should plan for additional nighttime traffic in the Valley Forge area due to a bridge demolition. Traffic stoppages will occur.

Nighttime lane closures will be put in place on U.S. 422 near Valley Forge next week due to a bridge demolition. Closures will be in effect from Monday, January 30, through Friday, February 3, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., according to the PennDOT.

Officials said that periodic traffic stoppages will occur after midnight.

Closures will effect both eastbound and westbound lanes between Trooper Road in West Norriton and First Avenue in Upper Merion.

This work is the latest efforts in the $97.4 million project to build new, wider bridges to improve travel and carry U.S. 422 motorists over the Schuylkill River, officials said.

Construction began in February 2016 and is scheduled to finish in May 2020.
