Villanova Advances to Second Round with Win Over Lafayette

The Villanova Wildcats began their ride to an expected appearance in the Final Four with a 93-52 victory over Lafayette College Thursday night, the Associated Press reports.

The number-one seeded team in the East Regional bracket proved they earned the top spot, buoyed by Dylan Ennis’ 16 points and double-digit scoring by the rest of the starters. It is the Wildcats’ 16th consecutive victory this season and the second time history the team held the number one seed. Many bracketologists, including President Barack Obama, predict Villanova will reach the title game.

The Wildcats will play the winner of North Carolina State versus Louisiana State on Saturday.
