The Borough will be planting 15 trees on the morning of Saturday, April 27th, 2019 in celebration of Arbor Day and Earth Day. The trees were purchased through a grant from the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society in conjunction with their Plant One Million campaign. The volunteer group will meet at Reeves Park at 9 am where representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and the Borough will read an Arbor Day Proclamation. The Arbor Day Foundation will also be awarding Phoenixville with a Tree City USA Growth Award. This will be followed by a demonstration planting after which the group will split up and plant the other 14 trees.

Trees provide many benefits to Borough residents, and many scientists and organizations have suggested that planting trees is the best way to mitigate climate change. This is a great event for residents and families to celebrate Arbor Day and Earth Day and give back to the community.

If you are interested in volunteering please plan to come out and help on what we hope will be a beautiful spring day. We recommend wearing boots and bringing a shovel. Other tools that are useful include pruners, staple guns, and scissors. Please write your name on your tools! You can contact the Phoenixville Tree Advisory Commission at phxville.tac@gmail.com.
