Phoenixville native Manny DeMutis, the man behind the development, has been noted as just that:

Under Manny’s leadership, Phoenix Village Apartments harnessed the grit and reliance that still pulses through Phoenixville’s veins. Calling upon his immigrant roots, he built on the legacy of generations of steel workers who came to this country for good jobs and better lives.

In the brief video (watch below) DeMutis discusses the rebirth of Phoenixville from a town of abandoned factories, crime, and wasted space to a thriving suburb with state of the art living accommodations and a bustling, culturally and historically rich downtown.

In the video summary, the creators pose the question: ”The influx of development is a welcome economic boon. But how much of the soul of this place remains?”

The resounding answer from DeMutis: phoenix-like, the soul of the borough remained in the ashes, and remains in the creations that have risen from it.
