White Horse Road Bridge In Schuylkill Twp. To Be Replaced

SCHUYLKILL TOWNSHIP, PA — Construction to replace White Horse Road Bridge over a tributary of Pickering Creek in Schuylkill Township will begin this month, officials said Tuesday.

Work to replace the structurally deficient bridge will commence on Jan. 17, and is expected to be completed by April 2018, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

The existing bridge, built in 1927, carries about 4,671 vehicles a day, authorities estimate.

During the closure, White Horse Road will be shut down between Loramar Lane and Valley Park Road, PennDOT said.

The detour will include a route over Pothouse Road and Route 29.

The new bridge will be 13 feet long and 24 feet wide.

Loftus Construction of Cinnaminson, New Jersey is the general contractor for the state-funded project.
