World War II Nurse, Longtime Phoenixville Resident, 98
Louise Ackerman served her country well.

Louise N. (Hedges) Ackerman, age 98, wife of the late Everett F. Ackerman, Col. Ret., a long-time Phoenixville resident, passed away May 6, 2016 in Neighborhood Hospice, West Chester, Pa. Born in Duchess County, NY, she was the daughter of the late J. Herrick and Isabelle (Tripp) Hedges.
Louise graduated from Vassar Brothers Hospital School of Nursing in Poughkeepsie, NY. She also served in the United States Army as a nurse during WWII. Her nursing career continued until she retired at the age of 87.

Loving mother to four children, Louise is survived by Barbara, wife of Garrett Pretzer, Ft. Collins, Co., Richard Ackerman, of Phoenixville, Linda, wife of Lars Garthe, Exton, PA, and Betty wife of the late Raymond Kother, Phoenixville, PA. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Michelle Martino, Mark Martino, Kevin, husband of Jennifer Ackerman, Robin Ackerman, Kelly, wife of Robert Sims, Dana, wife of Geoff MacMurray, Roger, husband of Donna Yashura, Scott, husband of Colleen Yashura, Susan, wife of Mark Rubin, Ryan Kother; and 13 great -grandchildren, Zachary Sims, Jacob Sims, Rachael Sims, Abigail Sims, Matthew Sims, Kathryn Sims, Isabelle Donovan, Gabrielle MacMurray, Tyler Yashura, Jared Yashura, Wyatt Yashura, Ethan Rubin, and Jacob Rubin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Pottstown, PA. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Exton Center Adult Care of Chester County, 201 Sharp Lane, Exton, PA 19341 or to the Neighborhood Hospice, 400 East Marshall Street, West Chester, PA 19380.
