Hunker Down for the Holidays……

I like to take it easy with the extra holiday décor and allow the house to still have its own personality. Less is more when it comes to the holiday decorations and editing is always encouraged.

I suppose it was bound to happen—cold weather.  It’s definitely upon us and it’s time to embrace the season.  Here’s how you start:

  • Change your area rugs to something colorful and wool
  • Change your throw pillows to earthen colors of wools, felts and velvets
  • Rearrange the living room to feature the fireplace
  • Include a new cozy throw for the sofa

These are basic, yet very easy changes that say that the summer has ended and winter is upon us.  The Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays allow for extra décor with the gourds, pumpkins and cornucopia, and Christmas, the grandest holiday of the year, comes with garland, wreaths and the tree.

Lastly, try to go with the real deal if possible. Use live evergreens for your trimmings and the tree. It’s such a fun and wonderful time of the year. Enjoy every moment.
