Let’s face it; not all dorm rooms are the ones you see in “Legally Blonde” or any of the thousands of college movies that portray a dorm room that you’d more likely see in a celebrity’s mansion for their kids. Most dorm rooms come with the bare essentials; a bed, a small bathroom, one mini-fridge, one microwave, and if you’re lucky, blinds for the windows. The carpets are never in the best condition and you might as well douse the couches in Lysol just to be sure.
There are ways, however, to improve a dorm room for a price that can fit into a college student’s budget. It might not look like a King’s bedroom, but it makes the space enjoyable to be in rather than a dreary concrete room.
You’d be surprised at how less a decorated dorm room costs. Shopping at stores such as Dollar General, Five Below, and even Walmart saves money, especially during school sales. Especially important is speaking with roommates. Maybe you can’t afford those $5 couch covers that match the curtains you picked up. But the person you’re rooming with might.

Tying together a black couch cover, just in case the Lysol didn’t do it’s job, a set of light blue curtains, and maybe a dark blue rug to cover what what you suppose, or hope, is a coffee stain can make a dorm room much cozier than the cinder block walls that surround it.
