SAT Scores for Pine-Richland Students Are Higher Than State Mean

When it comes to test scores, the news is good for Pine-Richland schools.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. David Foley told the school board Monday night that Pine-Richland students did well on the SATs and Keystone Algebra 1 tests.

The district received the scores earlier this month.

Pine-Richland students’ mean scores surpassed the state’s scores, for the 295 Pine-Richland students who took the SATs between 2009 and 2011, Foley said. Here are those results:

Colleges and universities use the SAT scores when considering whether to admit student applicants.

Keystone Algebra 1

For the Keystone Algebra 1 test taken in May, about 90 percent of the students scored in the advanced and proficient categories, said Foley.

The test was taken by 221 students, mostly seventh and eighth graders and a few sixth graders, he said. Here are their scores:

The Keystone Exams are a component of Pennsylvania’s new system of high school graduation requirements.

The state-developed Keystone Exams are end-of-course assessments designed to assess proficiency in algebra I, algebra II, geometry, literature, English composition, biology, chemistry, U.S. history, world history and civics and government, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Education website.
