Wendy's Raises Money for Charities through $1 Key Tags for Jr. Frostys

American Red Cross and Salvation Army to benefit from campaign, and participants get free Jr. Frostys for a year.

What if, for just $1, someone could help people in need following local disasters and also enjoy free Jr. Frostys from for an entire year?

Now through Dec. 31, customers can buy Jr. Frosty key tags at participating area Wendy’s restaurants throughout southwestern Pennsylvania for just $1.

Then, by showing that key tag on subsequent visits to Wendy’s, customers will receive a free Jr. Frosty as often as they wish through Dec. 31, 2012.

Wendy’s will donate 50 percent of the net proceeds of key tag sales to the American Red Cross Southwestern Pennsylvania Region and 50 percent to the Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division. This is the fifth year for the promotion; last year, key tag sales raised more than $36,000 for the local Red Cross.

“At Wendy’s, one of our core values is to give back to our community,” said Emily Mannion, field marketing manager for Wendy’s International.  “And through the sales of our Frosty key tags, we are honored to help the American Red Cross and their continued efforts in caring for and supporting the community.”

The Red Cross will use proceeds from the promotion to provide relief to local victims of disaster and to help people in southwestern Pennsylvania prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

“We are so grateful to be included in Wendy’s generous promotion again this holiday season,” said Patricia Waldinger, CEO of the local Red Cross. “I strongly encourage everyone in our community to purchase a Jr. Frosty key tag. Not only do you get free treats for a year, but you are helping our region better prepare for disasters.”
