Allegheny Co. Again Tops 1,000 Cases In Daily Coronavirus Report
Here are the latest coronavirus case numbers in Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department on Saturday 1,198 confirmed and probably new coronavirus cases, down from Friday's highest single-day total of 1,322 since the outbreak began in March. There have been a total of 39,227 cases since then.
The county reported two new coronavirus deaths. The county death toll now stands at 660, up from 658 on Friday.
The 795 confirmed cases came from 2,632 new tests - a positivity rate of 30 percent. For comparison purposes, the latest positivity rate for tests across Pennsylvania is 14 percent, state officials said.

With 16,344 cases in Westmoreland County, 6,430 in Washington County, 6,320 in Butler County and 6,052 in Beaver County, that brings the total number of cased to 74,273 when Allegheny County numbers are included. That's up from 67,746 on Friday.
According to the state Department of Health, there have been 1,353 deaths in the region from the virus: Six hundred and sixty in Allegheny County, 289 in Westmoreland County, 189 in Beaver County, 123 in Butler County and 92 in Washington County. That's up from 1,309 reported on Friday.

Because of the growing number of coronavirus cases and deaths across Pennsylvania, new mitigation measures went into effect on Saturday. For the next three weeks, the state is restricting indoor dining and closing gyms, movie theaters and bowling alleys, as well as limiting gatherings and suspending youth sports.
