Allegheny County Coronavirus Death Toll Mounts
Here are the latest coronavirus case numbers for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department on Wednesday reported eight new coronavirus deaths. The total since the outbreak began is 1,278.
There were 376 new and confirmed probable coronavirus cases. The total number number during the outbreak is now 68,087.
The 197 confirmed cases came from 1,034 tests - a positivity rate of 19 percent.

There have been 4,112 hospitalizations during the outbreak.
With 24,227 cases in Westmoreland County, 12,399 in Butler County, 12,163 in Washington County and 10,673 in Beaver County, that brings the total number of cases to 127,569 when Allegheny County numbers are included.

According to the state Department of Health, there have been 2,683 deaths in the region from the virus: One thousand, two hundred and seventy-eight in Allegheny County, 576 in Westmoreland County, 312 in Butler County, 311 in Beaver County and 204 in Washington County.
