Allegheny County Coronavirus Surge Shows No Sign Of Slowing
Here are the latest coronavirus case numbers for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department on Tuesday reported 693 new or probable coronavirus cases. There now have been 34,814 cases in the county during the pandemic, up from 34,121 on Monday.
The county reported six new coronavirus deaths. The county death toll now stands at 585, up from 579 on Monday.
There have been 2,311 hospitalizations in the county during the outbreak. That's up from 2,247 reported Monday.

The 477 confirmed cases came from 1,673 new tests - a positivity rate of 28 percent. To put that number into perspective, the positivity rate for tests across Pennsylvania for the past seven days was 14 percent, state officials said Monday.
With 11,414 cases in Westmoreland County, 5,546 in Washington County, 5,462 in Butler County and 5,036 in Beaver County, that brings the total number of cased to 62,152 when Allegheny County numbers are included. That's up from 60,459 reported on Monday.

According to the state Department of Health, there have been 1,169 deaths in the region from the virus: Five hundred and eighty-five in Allegheny County, 242 in Westmoreland County, 170 in Beaver County, 95 in Butler County and 77 in Washington County. That's up from 1,151 reported on Monday.
