Allegheny County Reports More Than 1,000 New Coronavirus Cases
Here are the latest coronavirus case numbers for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department on Thursday reported 1,166 new or probable coronavirus cases. There now have been 36,707 cases in the county during the pandemic, up from 35,541 on Wednesday.
The county reported six new coronavirus deaths. The county death toll now stands at 625, up from 619 on Wednesday.
There have been 2,692 hospitalizations in the county during the outbreak. That's up from 2,361 on Wednesday.

The 1,092 confirmed cases came from 3,302 new tests - a positivity rate of 33 percent. To put that number into perspective, the latest positivity rate for tests across Pennsylvania is 14 percent, state officials said.
With 11,864 cases in Westmoreland County, 5,789 in Washington County, 5,702 in Butler County and 5,306 in Beaver County, that brings the total number of cased to 65,368 when Allegheny County numbers are included. That's up from 63,153 on Wednesday.

According to the state Department of Health, there have been 1,254 deaths in the region from the virus: Six hundred and twenty-five in Allegheny County, 265 in Westmoreland County, 179 in Beaver County, 104 in Butler County and 81 in Washington County. That's up from 1,225 reported on Wednesday.
