Allegheny County Reports Nearly 1,000 New Coronavirus Cases
Here are the latest coronavirus case numbers for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department on Friday reported 967 confirmed and probable new coronavirus cases. There have been 59,339 cases since the outbreak began in March, up from 58,371 on Thursday.
There were 11 new deaths, pushing the total since the outbreak began to 1,078 - up from 1,067 on Thursday.
The 586 confirmed cases came from 2,131 new tests - a positivity rate of 27 percent. For comparison purposes, the latest positivity rate for tests across Pennsylvania is 15 percent, state officials said.

There have been 3,348 hospitalizations during the outbreak.
With 21,003 cases in Westmoreland County, 10,349 in Butler County, 9,900 in Washington County and 9,185 in Beaver County, that brings the total number of cases to 109,876 when Allegheny County numbers are included. That's up from 108,150 on Thursday.

According to the state Department of Health, there have been 2,185 deaths in the region from the virus: One thousand and seventy-eight in Allegheny County, 465 in Westmoreland County, 269 in Beaver County, 225 in Butler County and 148 in Washington County. That's an increase from 2,152 on Thursday.
