Allegheny County Reports Nearly 1,500 New Coronavirus Cases
The latest county coronavirus case numbers were reported over the weekend.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department on Monday reported 1,470 new coronavirus cases over the weekend. There now have been 34,121 cases in the county during the pandemic.
The county reported four new coronavirus deaths. The county death toll now stands at 579, up from 575 reported on Saturday.
There have been 2,247 hospitalizations in the county during the outbreak. That's up from 2,211 reported on Saturday.

The 1,461 confirmed cases came from 4,661 new tests - a positivity rate of 31 percent. To put that number into perspective, the positivity rate for tests across Pennsylvania for the past seven days was 14 percent, state officials said Monday.
With 10,9892 cases in Westmoreland County, 5,348 in Washington County, 5,255 in Butler County and 4,843 in Beaver County, that brings the total number of cased to 60,459 when Allegheny County numbers are included. That's up from58,989 reported on Saturday.

According to the state Department of Health, there have been 1,151 deaths in the region from the virus: Five hundred and seventy-nine in Allegheny County, 239 in Westmoreland County, 166 in Beaver County, 92 in Butler County and 75 in Washington County. That's up from 1,147 reported on Saturday.
