Allegheny County's New Coronavirus Cases Again Top 1,000
Here are the latest coronavirus case numbers for Allegheny County and southwestern Pennsylvania.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department on Saturday reported 1,015 confirmed and probable new coronavirus cases. There have been 45,699 cases since the outbreak began in March, up from 44,684 on Friday
There were seven new coronavirus deaths. The county death toll now stands at 777, up from 770 on Thursday.
The 670 confirmed cases came from 2,403 new tests - a positivity rate of 27 percent. For comparison purposes, the latest positivity rate for tests across Pennsylvania is 16 percent, state officials said.

There have been 2,783 hospitalizations during the outbreak, up from 2768 on Friday.
With 15,793 cases in Westmoreland County, 7,352 in Butler County, 7,257 in Washington County and 7,041 in Beaver County, that brings the total number of cases to 83,142 when Allegheny County numbers are included. That's up from 81,448 on Friday..

According to the state Department of Health, there have been 1,572 deaths in the region from the virus: Seven hundred and seventy-seven in Allegheny County, 337 in Westmoreland County, 208 in Beaver County, 142 in Butler County and 108 in Washington County. That's up from 1,547 on Friday.
Because of the growing number of coronavirus cases and deaths across Pennsylvania, new mitigation measures are in effect until Jan. 4. The state has restricted indoor dining and closed gyms, movie theaters and bowling alleys, as well as limiting gatherings and suspending youth sports.
