Supermarket Chain Customer Survey Rankings: See How PA Stores Fared

The American Customer Satisfaction Index has come out with its annual survey of national and regional groceries.

PENNSYLVANIA — The American Customer Satisfaction Index released its annual survey of customers of supermarkets and grocery stores, and a Pennsylvania-based chain chain did not do well in the results.

Out of 19 chains rated in the index, Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle finished last with a satisfaction rate of 73 out of a possible 100. That represented a one percent decline from 2025 numbers.

To provide individual scores for each chain, the organization asked people for feedback on things such as the convenience of store hours, a store's mobile app reliability, the quality of meat and produce, pickup process, locations, website, brand selections, cleanliness and checkout speed.

The top 10 grocery chains and their approval ratings, according to the satisfaction index organization:

  1. Trader Joe's, 86 percent (up two percent from last year)
  2. Publix, 84 percent (no change)
  3. H-E-B, 83 percent (up one percent)
  4. Sam's Club, 82 percent (up one percent)
  5. Aldi, 81 percent (no change)
  6. Costco, 81 percent (no change)
  7. Whole Foods, 81 percent, (down one percent)
  8. ShopRite, 79 percent (down one percent)
  9. Target, 79 percent (down one percent)
  10. Ahold Delhaize, 78 percent (no change)
