PITTSBURGH, PA — An era in Pittsburgh's bar and restaurant scene has come to an end.
Fat Head's, a staple on East Carson Street in the city's South Side for 34 years, permanently closed on Sunday.
"Back in 1992, this place started as a simple idea: open the doors, serve great food and beer, and create a place where people felt welcome," an Instagram post from the bar stated.
"What we never could have imagined was how many lives would pass through those doors and how deeply the place would become part of the community.
"Fat Heads became a place filled with laughter, friendship and countless memories. Over the years, we've watched strangers become friends and friends become family. We've seen first dates turn into marriages, babies being born, families raised. We hosted celebrations, reunions, championship nights and ordinary week nights that somehow became unforgettable."
There is no word yet on what will replace Fat Heads in the space.
