Young PA Couple Dies In Murder-Suicide

A young Pittsburgh-area couple is dead in what police are calling a murder-suicide. Get the latest details here.

BUTLER COUNTY, PA — Less than two years ago, they were married. Now the husband and wife are dead in what police are terming a murder-suicide.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, which is investigating the incident, the Northern Regional Police Department received a call at 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday from the husband's parents.

They told police that the husband said that he had his killed his wife at their residence in Seven Fields, and that he planned to take his own life.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Madeline Spatafore, 25, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Her husband, Ryan Hosso, 26, was found dead from a single gunshot wound in a wooded area behind the home in Cranberry Township.

According to her Facebook and LinkedIn pages, Spatafore studied at Duquesne University and had been working at UPMC Presbyterian as a neurovascular critical care physician assistant since November 2024.

She was in the honors college at Duquesne, a member of the Delta Zeta sorority, and other organizations.

Ryan Hosso’s LinkedIn page said he worked as a mechanical engineer for Vavco, a Pittsburgh-based engineering firm for the oil and gas industry.

The couple got married in September 2024, according to an online wedding registry. They both graduated from Seneca Valley High School in Butler County.
