PITTSBURGH, PA — Two people are dead after a crash on Wednesday on the Fort Duquesne Bridge at the Route 28/Route 65 split.
The crash occurred at 3 p.m. and involved five total vehicles. One of them went off the bridge ramp and onto Reedsdale Street below.
The driver of that vehicle, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
On the bridge ramp, Pittsburgh EMS used the jaws of life to extricate a driver from a vehicle. The woman was taken to the hospital in cardiac arrest and ultimately died from her injuries.
Medics evaluated all of the individuals from the other vehicles on scene and all refused transport to the hospital. A total of five vehicles were involved in the crash.
The Pittsburgh Police Collision Investigation Unit will work to determine the factors that led to the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
