Fatal Crash Victim Was Beloved Pittsburgh Restaurant Worker

PITTSBURGH, PA — One of the people killed in the massive five-vehicle wreck that occurred Wednesday on the Fort Duquesne Bridge was a well-known cook at a Pittsburgh-area restaurant.

Danielle "Dani" Jackman was the Tuesday and Sunday cook at Smitty's Place in McKeesport.

Jackman, 58, of Churchill, and Michael Smith, 52, of Sheraden died when the vehicle they were in plunged off the bridge and onto Reedsdale Street on the North Shore.

According to a restaurant post, Jackman worked as a DUI and drug and alcohol counselor.

"She had a love for the Pittsburgh Pirates like no other and truly enjoyed spending time with her friends, family, and beloved animals," the post stated.

"Danielle will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory, laughter, and kindness will forever remain in our hearts."

Friends, family and the community are invited to Smitty's Place on May 15 at 7 p.m. for a memorial gathering.

Following that, an evening of memories and music will follow at 9 p.m.
