PITTSBURGH, PA — Tambellini is back in the Burgh.
Offering Italian fine dining for decades, the family-operated Tambellini name could be found in locations ranging from Downtown, the South Side and Mount Washington. As many as seven were in operation at one point.
The last of those eateries, Joseph Tambellini Restaurant on Bryant Street in Highland Park, closed last year.
But the family name has resurfaced with the recent opening of Tambellini & Co. on Brookline Bouleavard in Brookline.
"You might be wondering what sets us apart from the legendary Tambellini heritage," co-owner Michael Tambellini said on the eatery's website.
"The secret is right there in the name: The 'Co.' That would be my wife and business partner, Trista. While I bring the legacy, Trista brings the fire. An accomplished chef with 12 years of experience opening and running restaurants across the tri-state area, Trista infuses our traditional Italian core with a modern flavor of inclusion and global flair."
Primarily a sandwich shop, the restaurant features panini, antipasto and dolici.
"At Tambellini & Co., we are rooted in tradition but not stuck in it. We are building a space in Brookline that honors the Italian Sunday dinners of the past while embracing the diverse, vibrant flavors of today."
