PITTSBURGH, PA — After years of tacos and tequila, a popular Downtown Pittsburgh restaurant has shut its doors.
The owners insist the shutdown of Tako on Sixth Street is only temporary.
"Täkō will temporarily close its doors for a full revamp and re-imagination of the concept," a post on the eatery's Instagram page stated.
"The temporary closure marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the restaurant, as the team prepares to elevate the guest experience, refresh the space, refine the menu, and bring renewed energy to one of Pittsburgh’s most recognized dining destinations.
“This is not goodbye — it’s a reset. “Täkō has been an important part of Pittsburgh’s dining scene, and we believe the best version of Täkō is still ahead. We’re taking the time to reinvest in the concept, push creativity further, and come back stronger, sharper, and more exciting than ever.”
Details surrounding the reopening timeline and new concept elements will be announced in the coming months.
Tako is owned by the Richard DeShantz Restaurant Group, which also operates Meat & Potatoes, Gi Jin, Rib Room and Sally Ann's, all Downtown; Coop Deville in Lawrenceville; Fish Nor Fowl in East Liberty and Pre Amp Coffee Studio in Squirrel Hill.
