HOMESTEAD, PA — New bus stops and routes are coming to The Waterfront retail, restaurant and residential complex.

Waterfront officials announced Thursday that, via a collaboration with Pittsburgh Regional Transit and Giant Eagle, new bus stops and routes will service the stores east of Amity Street.

Stops that are in front of the stores now will be relocated on the sides of Giant Eagle and the new routes will eliminate bus traffic directly in front of stores by moving that traffic to Waterfront Drive.

“Once completed, this project will enhance the safety for guests and employees by eliminating traffic jams that can be caused by multiple buses,” Emily Wittmer, The Waterfront's marketing director and assistant general manager, said in a statement.

Buses will now travel along the sides and behind Giant Eagle, instead of along store fronts. The new pick-up area, on the side of Giant Eagle, has been elevated by providing newly poured concrete, an ADA accessible ramp, an upgraded bus shelter, lighting and fresh new landscaping.

Any specific bus route questions can be directed to PRT.
