PITTSBURGH, PA — A Pittsburgh sports broadcaster with national reporting experience has been terminated.
SportsNet Pittsburgh terminated Penguins sideline reporter Hailey Hunter after three seasons of covering the team. She joined the team's broadcasting crew for the 2023-24 season.
Hunter told TribLive that she was not given a specific reason for her dismissal except that SportsNet Pittsburgh "wanted to move in a different direction."
The move comes barely a month after Hunter got married.
SportsNet Pittsburgh has announced that it immediately will conduct a nationwide search for Hunter's replacement.
An Ohio State graduate, Hunter previously worked for the Golf Channel, PGA Tour Entertainment and as a reporter for the New York Islanders.
Her father, Tim Hrynewich, played for the Penguins between 1982-84.
