PITTSBURGH, PA — Welcome to Monday - and welcome to the risk of some nasty weather in the Pittsburgh area today.
The National Weather Service says there is a slight chance of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts are the primary threat, but a tornado cannot be ruled out.
Also, rounds of showers and thunderstorms could produce instances of heavy rainfall into the evening, which could cause isolated flooding issues - particularly in urban and poor draining issues.
A flood watch could be issued today if that threat increases.
Pittsburgh could receive over an inch of rain and areas south of the city could see as much as three inches.
The chance of precipitation today is 100 percent.
The weather should improve on Tuesday, but more storms are expected later in the week. The risk of that occurring is greatest on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
