PITTSBURGH, PA — An already award-winning Pittsburgh pizza chain has come home from Italy with international honors.
They included winning the prestigious Caputo Cup and the company's 10th world championship title.
“Bringing home our 10th world championship is something Pittsburgh can be proud of,”Caliente CEO Nick Bogacz said.
“But the truth is, we come home with much more than trophies. Just like a great pizza, there are layers to it. Pizza brings people together. It lifts people up. It creates lifelong friendships and inspires us to keep pushing forward.”
Leading the way was Matt Hickey, Caliente’s Commissary Director, who captured first place in the largest stretch pizza competition bringing another world championship home to Pittsburgh.
Hickey also earned third place in the fastest pizza maker in the world competition and third place in freestyle acrobatics.
Perry Bogacz earned second place in the fastest pizza maker in the world competition, bringing home a silver medal after going head-to-head with some of the industry’s most talented competitors.
Caliente has locations in Ross, Bloomfield, Hampton, Mount Lebanon, Aspinwall, Monroeville, Sewickley and Crafton.
