Popular Pittsburgh Cafe Closes

After more than a decade in business, a Pittsburgh cafe has shut its doors.

PITTSBURGH, PA — After 12 years of serving superlative food in Pittsburgh's South Side, Chace's Cafe has closed.

Owner Pete Henderson made the announcement on social media.

"Well after a long hard night of tossing and turning and going over and over in my head I have decided to close Chace's Cafe, located at 301 East Carson Street," Henerson stated.

"This decision did not come easy. I truly loved my customers and fan base in Pittsburgh. Thank you all for your support over the past 12 years."

Although Chace's has officially shut down, Henderson still is cooking there for his loyal customers. A post on Monday indicated that the restaurant was open in the morning for takeout breakfast sandwiches and french toast pancakes with bacon and eggs.

Those were the only menu items available.

Henderson did not say how long he will continue to offer the takeout service before he moves onto his next venture.

Henderson told TribLive that he plans to open a Chace's location in Braddock Hills.

He did say where in that community Chace's II will be located, no did he provide an estimated opening date.
