Make It An Active Summer In Peters: Here Are Multiple Ways To Keep Moving

Find recreation programs, outdoor adventures and family-friendly activities throughout the Peters area.

PETERS TOWNSHIP, PA — There's no better time to get moving in Peters than summer, where you can spend more time outside, take a class or find active programs for kids.

There are many programs offered by the Peters Parks & Recreation Department, whose mission statement says it exists to provide meaningful recreation and leisure opportunities through program offerings and the provision of parks, special use areas and facilities.

Here are a few suggestions on how to stay active during the remainder of summer:

Tennis and Pickleball

The Peters Township Tennis Center features nine tennis courts, with four clay courts and five hard courts, as well as four pickleball courts.All players are welcome -- there are no membership fees.

The facility and Junior Development programming are led by Director Mike Schuster, as well as Mark Pemu and Tim Sullivan, Chuck Taylor, Mike Lechmanik, Dave Hogle, all of whom are professionally certified coaches.

Hiking

Peters Township has over 513 acres of outdoor recreational land. The Township operates 8 parks and the Arrowhead Trail.

Swimming

Rose Garden Pool Association is a non-profit organization operating a family oriented recreational swimming pool on Canterbury Lane in Peters.

Cool off at the Aqua Park

Designed with all ages in mind, the Rolling Hills Aqua Park features a dedicated toddler play area, exciting slides for bigger kids, and a thrilling 55-gallon dump bucket that keeps everyone on their toes.

The aqua park also has a rentable shelter and private party room that are perfect for birthdays celebrations.

Summer Camps for Kids

Upcoming camps for kids ages 6-12 include Blueberry's Kitchen Kids Cooking Mini-Camp July 27-29 and Aug. 12-14; and Mad Science Camp Aug. 3-7. An intermediate youth volleyball camp for kids ages 9-18 will be held Aug. 10-13 and an advanced youth volleyball camp will occur Aug. 17-20.
