1 Dead, 2 Hurt In Wrong-Way Pittsburgh-Area Highway Crash

A fatal wrong-way crash occurred on a Pittsburgh-area expressway Tuesday.

PITTSBURGH, PA — One man died and two others were injured Tuesday in a wrong-way crash on a Pittsburgh-area highway.

The incident occurred on the Mon-Fayette Expressway near mile marker 47 in Fallowfield Township, Washington County.

According to Washington County Coroner Tim Warco, at around 4:30 a.m., a man was driving southbound on the expressway when another driver traveling in the wrong direction struck him head-on.

The dead man was identified as Jacob Matthew Huber, 24, of Ruffs Dale, Westmoreland County. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

WTAE-TV reported that the driver of the other vehicle and a passenger, both of whom are from Ohio, were flown to the hospital with injuries. Their condition was unknown on Tuesday.

Pennsylvania State Police did not know why the vehicle was traveling northbound in the the southbound lane.

The incident remains under investigation.
