Man Nabbed With Gun At Pittsburgh International Airport

Police were summoned when a gun was discovered at a Pittsburgh International security checkpoint.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Allegheny County Police have charged a Monroeville man after a firearm was discovered at the security checkpoint at Pittsburgh International Airport.

At 6:37 am on Friday, Transportation Security Administration officers observed a handgun within a passenger’s carry-on bag and alerted Allegheny County Police.County Police identified the passenger as Richard Perez, 33, and determined Perez did not possess a valid concealed carry permit.

Perez was charged with carrying a firearm without a license.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation was also notified.

Passengers who bring firearms into an airport security checkpoint can face federal civil fines from the Transportation Security Administration up to $10,000. Repeat offenders can be fined up to $13,910.
