EDGEWOOD, PA — A woman was struck and killed by an Amtrak train on Wednesday.
Police have confirmed that the a woman was hit by the train at around 8. a.m. near West Swissvale and Pennwood avenues. Allegheny County police, Edgewood police and emergency crews all responded to the scene.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the person killed as Akelia Lobban, 23, of Edgewood.
The incident delayed the eastbound Amtrak train for more than two hours and also closed the nearby Pittsburgh Regional Transit East Busway.
