Popular Pittsburgh Brewpub Closing

After a five-year run, this Pittsburgh brewpub is going out of business.

PITTSBURGH, PA — When the year began, Sly Fox Brewing Company had two Pittsburgh locations. After Saturday, it will have none.

The company announced on social media that it is closing its Downtown taproom.

"After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision not to renew our lease and will be closing our doors for good following Saturday, Aug. 15," a Facebook post stated.

"For the past five years, it has been our privilege to be a part of the Pittsburgh community, we have shared countless meals, raised glasses, celebrated milestones, welcomed visitors and created memories with so many of you.

"On behalf of the ownership, management, and the entire Sly Fox Brewing Co. staff, we want to sincerely thank you for your patronage, support and the memories you have given us over the years."

Gift cards will be honored at any other Sly Fox location, but you will have to travel to use them. The brewery's other locations are in Eastern Pennsylvania in Malvern, Phoenixville, Wyomissing and Pottstown.

In February, Sly Fox closed its location in the South Side shortly after it was cited by the Allegheny County Health Department for food code violations.

That space now is occupied by the Burghers Brewing Beer Garden.
