Pittsburgh-Area Borough Mayor Resigns Amid Hidden Camera Accusations

Hours after being accused of placing a hidden camera in a bathroom, the mayor of a small Pittsburgh-area borough quit.

GLASSPORT, PA — Mayor Keith DiMarco resigned Tuesday after being criminally charged for allegedly placing a hidden camera in the bathroom of his home.

Borough council accepted DiMarco's resignation at a Tuesday night meeting. Council President Anthony Colecchi was named acting mayor; council has 30 days to appoint a replacement who will serve until the next election.

DiMarco is charged with two counts of invasion of privacy after officials said he planted cameras in his family's bathroom. He faces a preliminary hearing on Sept. 8.

WTAE-TV reported that DiMarco's adult stepdaughter allegedly spotted the camera hidden in a plant while she was taking a bath. DiMarco's wife also found evidence DiMarco's cell phone that he had purchased three cameras.

According to the station, DiMarco allegedly admitted to investigators that he placed the camera in the bathroom to record his wife.

A spokesperson for UPMC, where DiMarco works, confirmed to TribLivethat he has been suspended from his job there. DiMArco's LinkedIn profile states that he has held an information technology position at UPMC since 2022.
