Pittsburgh-Area Child Abuse Probe Leads To Bomb Squad Being Summoned

Police made a surprising discovery while investigating a reported incident of child abuse.

PITTSBURGH, PA — An investigation into a suspected child abuse case led to the Allegheny County Bomb Squad being called to a home in Brackenridge Thursday.

County police were dispatched to the residence, where they discovered that a nine-year-old boy had been assaulted. WTAE-TV reported that police were summoned after an Allegheny County Children, Youth and Families worker conducted a welfare check on the boy and saw multiple severe bruises on him.

Police arrested Taylor Slivan and Tyler Slivan, both 28. Both were charged with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person.

Both were taken to the county jail.

While arrest and search warrants for the Slivaans were being served, detectives discovered numerous items associated with 3D printed firearm suppressors and grenades.

The bomb squad, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and county Hazmat were called to assist. The investigation into those items is ongoing.
