Citing a criminal complaint, WPXI-TV reported that Sanders was found in a Lexus that was stopped in the middle of William Penn Highway near Beulah Drive. Police found Sanders slumped in the driver's seat and he failed several field sobriety tests.

Police also found a sealed package of suspected marijuana products in Sanders' vehicle.

After graduating from Woodland Hills, Sanders played football at Penn State. At the NFL level he spent four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, earning Pro Bowl honors in his final year. He then spent to seasons with the Carolina Panthers. He played for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025.

As the 2026 football season nears, Sanders has yet to sign with an NFL team.
