Health officials are warning of possible measles exposure last week in multiple areas of Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Two people who visited UPMC Children's Hospital in Lawrenceville last week have tested positive for measles, the Allegheny County Health Department has announced.

The diagnoses have caused health department officials to warn of possible exposures in several areas of the hospital.

Health Department officials said the two individuals were not Allegheny County residents and left the county following their hospital visits. Citing privacy reasons, the health department did not provide additional information about the individuals.

UPMC is calling patients and staff who have been identified as exposed on Aug. 26. with further instructions. Potential exposures may have occurred at the following locations and times on that date:

The health department advises that any individual in the exposure area who does has not had two doses of the Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) Vaccine to call their healthcare provider for the next steps.

Health department officials said it is very important for individuals who think they may have been exposed to not directly go to a healthcare facility without calling ahead. For anyone that is unsure, the health department recommends they check their vaccination status.

People who have received only one dose of the vaccine, instead of the recommended two doses, may still be susceptible to the virus.

There now have been three confirmed measles cases at UPMC Children's. An unvaccinated Jefferson County resident was diagnosed with the virus last month while visiting the hospital.
