Today's riddle: What has 2 arms and a neck but no head? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Woman Slashed In The Face In Pittsburgh Neighborhood (patch.com) — A woman working at a store in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood was slashed in the face and bruised on the head after confronting a man who was unplugging items to charge his phone. Police say the confrontation moved outside, where the man attacked her and then fled on foot. Medics took her to the hospital in stable condition, and the investigation into the aggravated assault continues.
2. Pittsburgh-Area Man Sentenced For Threatening To Kill Trump, Others (patch.com) — A Butler County man from the Pittsburgh region has been sentenced to four years in federal prison for online threats to kill former President Donald Trump, federal officials and ICE agents. Prosecutors in the Western District of Pennsylvania say his YouTube posts described stockpiling guns, ammo and body armor and included explicit calls for mass violence. The case underscores how seriously threats are pursued in the Pittsburgh-based federal district.
3. Pittsburgh Police remove 11 dogs, cat from house in Westwood (wtae.com) — Pittsburgh police and Animal Care & Control removed 11 dogs and a cat from a Westwood home on Barr Avenue after community complaints about deplorable conditions. Three dead dogs were also found, and the surviving animals were taken to Humane Animal Rescue as officials continue investigating whether the property is occupied.
4. 'We are sounding the alarm': Mayor says the city's financial picture is far more dire than previously known (post-gazette.com subscription) — Pittsburgh's new mayor says the city faces a looming $250 million deficit over the next five years, despite last year's 20% property tax increase. With shrinking revenues and rising costs, officials are weighing cuts, unfilled positions, and new development to protect essentials like paving, snow removal, parks, and emergency services that residents rely on daily.
5. Wanted man arrested at hospital in Pittsburgh (newportdispatch.com) — A man wanted since June on serious assault and kidnapping-related charges from McKeesport was arrested inside Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he was reportedly staying under an alias. Allegheny County sheriff's detectives located him there and served multiple warrants from both Allegheny and Westmoreland counties.
