FBI Probing Multiple Bomb Threats To Pittsburgh-Area School District

BEAVER COUNTY, PA — The FBI has entered the investigation into multiple bomb threats that have been made to the Freedom Area School District since the beginning of the school year.

The most recent threat, which occurred on Monday, was the fourth made against schools in the district recently. All Freedom Area schools switched to remote learning on Tuesday.

The FBI's Pittsburgh office released the following statement on Thursday:

"The FBI is working closely with the New Sewickley Township Police Department to identify and bring to justice the individual(s) responsible for recent bomb threats directed at the Freedom Area School District.

"Making threats of violence—especially those that disrupt schools and endanger our communities—is a serious offense and can constitute a federal crime. The FBI and our partners intend to fully enforce the law and ensure the perpetrator(s) is held accountable."

As the investigation is open and ongoing, the FBI said it would not be providing any additional comment at this time.
