2. Fatal Shooting Occurs In Pittsburgh Area (patch.com) — Residents in the Pittsburgh area are being urged to share any information after Allegheny County Police began investigating a deadly shooting inside a Swissvale home early Thursday morning. A man was found fatally wounded on Locust Street, and two suspects reportedly fled out the back door. Authorities have not yet released the victim's identity and are asking tipsters to call the County Police Tip Line anonymously.
3. Lane Restrictions Coming For Heavily Traveled Pittsburgh Bridge (patch.com) — Pittsburgh drivers who rely on the Homestead Grays Bridge should prepare for weekend single-lane closures starting October 2 as Allegheny County crews perform span, pier, and deck repairs. The work, affecting more than 40,000 daily motorists, will run through mid-November and is expected to cause delays, so travelers are advised to allow extra time. The $902,594 project targets a bridge currently rated in fair condition.
4. Duquesne Light Employees Strike: What To Know (patch.com) — Pittsburgh-area residents served by Duquesne Light are being assured power will stay on as about 1,000 union employees strike over contract issues involving safety, staffing, equipment and working conditions. Pittsburgh Oktoberfest returns with tasty classics, new features (wpxi.com) — Downtown Pittsburgh's Oktoberfest kicks off with 11 days of Bavarian-themed fun, including a 60-foot Ferris wheel on the Roberto Clemente Bridge, games, and live music. Market Square will host stein-holding contests and wiener dog races, while 14 restaurants offer German-inspired dishes.
