PITTSBURGH, PA —Three teens were shot following a high school football game in the city's South Side Thursday night.
The shooting happened at around 9:45 p.m. as police were breaking up several fights that were occurring after a City League football game between Westinghouse and University Prep at George W. Cupples Stadium.
Pittsburgh Police Chief Jason Lando told reporters at the scene that two male victims and one female victim were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition.
Lando said officers already were inside and outside the stadium as a safety precaution and were just feet away from the shooting when it occurred. Still, the suspect was able to flee the scene and elude police.
One person was taken to police headquarters for questioning but no arrests had been made as of Friday morning.
"It's very unfortunate," Lando said at the scene. "You know, we should, regardless of whether you're a student, a family member, or a member of the community, you should be able to go to these games and enjoy yourself, have a good time, not worry about violence."
