Woman Shot In Chest In Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA — A woman was shot in the chest in an apparent domestic incident in the city's Knoxville section early Thursday.

At approximately 1:15 a.m., officers responded to a Knox Avenue address for reports of a woman shot inside of apartment. When they arrived, they located the victim outside with another woman.

Officers began life-saving aid to the victim by using a chest seal and administering CPR until Pittsburgh EMS arrived. Medics took her to the hospital in critical condition.

The Mobile Crime Unit processed evidence at the scene. Patrol officers secured the firearm before their arrival.

The second female was detained and taken to headquarters to be questioned by Violent Crime Division detectives. As of Friday morning, no charges had been filed.
