Former Pittsburgh Restaurant, Nightclub Executive Dies

He was affiliated with some of the city's best-known nightspots.

PITTSBURGH, PA — You might not immediately recognize Tom Barnes' name, but he was heavily involved in Pittsburgh's restaurant and nightclub scene for decades.

Think Heaven, Downtown. Think the V.I.P. nightclubs scattered across town. Think Chauncy's and Rock Jungle in Station Square. Think The Boardwalk floating nightclub and restaurant complex in the Strip District that included Donzi's and Tequila Willie's.

He was involved with them all.

Barnes, 71, of Greenfield, died on Sept. 22. He was 71.

A celebration of life for Barnes will be held Oct. 11 from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. at Hometown Harry's Sports Bar in Station Square. A post circulating on multiple web sites indicates the Steelers game will be televised during the event.

According to his obituary, Barnes was the vice president and director of operations of Thomas Jayson Associates - a company run by Thomas Jayson, who owned a number of nightspots in Pittsburgh and across the country.
